OUR CHOU SIR

I, knew him ever since I joined the battalion after my commissioning, and believe you me after my first interaction could never realize that he would be such a gem of a person.

After the introductory address and my Commanding Officer's interview, I came to know that my commanding officer was sending me to one of the rifle companies for my line tenure with the troops and my adjutant was responsible for my training programme and also he was assigned to address me few do's and don'ts of this rigorous insurgent area. My adjutant's speech was short and sweet with lots of 'Off beat notes' (no pun intended). Well the off beats mainly contained how happening kolkata is since he had a brilliant tenure there just a year back, and how he was just the talk of the town mainly among the page 3 makers of the city. This definitely sounded a bit off beat amidst his carefully crafted exposure to the CI area. Ultimately at the end of the day when I asked for his permission to leave he said with a glitter in his eyes, "Take care of yourself learns as fast as you can, I am sure you will do well. " I was fortunate to have Capt S K Choudhary as my adjutant

Late Capt S K Choudhary, SM was more then a brother officer for us. It was a pleasure serving under him. His charisma and leading from the front attitude was an example not only for the troops but also for all the youngsters. Never dearth of energy always looking forward to face new challenges and ever ready to help out the juniors, this was what our Chou sir was.

Chou sir is still every superior's darling and my commanding officer still says how he used to give that naughty smiles after he scolded him. Chou sir for me was an adjoining company commander who used to infiltrate into my area without informing me and ultimately which would result in a fight in the headquarters about the ambiguities of the area of responsibilities and when he would realize it was his mistake he would make a sweet statement which could melt everyone's heart.

Chou sir for me was just like good senior who never encouraged me to do a wrong thing, be it whoever who said so. Chou sir was like a friend where we used pull each other's legs about our so called mischievous heroics both in and out of the battalion. Chou sir was like a caring senior who never wanted his junior to fall into any trouble for any untoward incident. He was a live wire both on and off the field where his sheer presence would rejuvenate the entire party.

Chou sir was a great pal where I ensured that he doesn't come back with a penny in his pocket after we entered into an eating outlet after our Part - B exams. Chou sir was like a senior who never wanted his juniors to handle any controversial situation where he was around. Chou sir was ecstatic with joy after I was the first to send him the text message that he had been awarded with the Sena Medal after my CO was not able to contact him.

Chou sir was that same person who didn't want me to go in that operation where he sacrificed his life. He was that same person with whom I had fight before he went out of my COB for that operation for I would never realize that it was the last time I was fighting with him.

Chou sir for me was like an elder brother who taught me as an officer, as a brother, as a senior and also as a pal. We all love you Chou sir, we still talk about you. Your smart stunts with the Brigade Major when you were the adjutant, your expectedly volatile nature which still makes those stupid persons in the area tremble and lastly but not least those typical hind-assamese phrases which you used to chatter after getting a genuine information. You are with us forever sir, long live sir, Good bless!!!!!!!!!!
