NOTHING AND NO ONE
CAN PUT US DOWN
ARMED WITH A DARING - DO- ATTITUDE
AND KNOWING THAT NO MATTER WHAT
ALL CORNERS CAN BE TURNED
WE ARE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN KEEPING THE FAITH.
"KAHA GOLIA CHALA RAHEY HO!"
These lines were like a brooch with his tongue. I have yet to witness a man with such immense potential, endurance both mental and physical and over beaming energy at all times. This must be a fair introduction to prove that he was a man with "WILL OF STEEL".
I have to go down the memory lane while narrating the gist of three years I spent with him as his immediate JANGU. The subtle shades, the striking hues, the nuances of colors, we experienced together being junior most officers of the paltan being groomed and broomed. His mischievous smile made him a darling of all. He believed in living for the day. Our one year tenure in peace was something beyond words to explain. An officer mess turned mad house with 11 bachelors staying there, and planning for going into counter insurgency with oozing enthusiasm.
Our exposure to counter insurgency saw a changed "chou". He had a deeper sincerity of motive, a great courage in speech and earnestness in action. Chow was given the responsibility of being the adjutant, where he used to become un easy and restless for not being able to be part of action, he used to hate limitations. He was made "A'' coy commander by our CO, that was the day a new one liner was made "SARI ULFA KI BELLA, GULAB, JUHI, CHAMPA, KAR DU GA. His relentless hard work bought results with in a few months.
He was such a hardened soldier who could take onslaught of both man and mosquitoes of Assam, for him priority was paltans izzat. As we all used to gather every month for officers conference, our CO & 2IC used to gear up for, god knows what on earth chou would ask for. Un moved by what people say, chou will come with his long list and also take what others were asking for. If somebody used to ask chou why do u need so many things, answer was short and crisp "PATA NAHI KAB ZARURAT PAD JAY C I HAI BHAI ''.
"LOVE IS IN THE AIR"
I, chou and Capt Bhatt came closer with passing time with all new officers pooled in with only four of us from the kolkata masti brigade. There used to be lots of argument, figth over, sources, jumping into each others AOR (area of responsibility) and then Bhatt sir(adjutant) used to give both of us his piece of mind. This entire scuffle used to end over a piece of cake bought by any one of us who went to market. Then came those moments to quit bachelorhood and get transformed into a more responsible man, chou was the first one amongst us. He got engaged and then started those long phone calls and his new one liner "love is in the air". All three of us shared and enjoyed those soothing moments to remember and cherish throughout life..
There used to be hours of discussion whether paltan will go for UN or not, where will be our next peace. Who all will be our targets, to be disturbed late late nights. As they say time flies, and it did, we all were left with nothing but memories. We all left here to suffer and struggle in this mortal world, and he placed himself amongst immortal icons, trendsetters and heroes. Chou is the golden feather to our hat. We miss him day in and day out, and strive to walk on the path of chevaliery he has shown.
How can we write about his unparalleled chevaliery, courage and determination, on this simple piece of paper, when we want to paint his rare image on this endless sky, where it shines by a million stars and becomes a picture for every eye to capture.
